Best Places To See Snow Near Sydney For Kids 2018

By: Phoebe Ackland, 17 May 2018

Snow is a magical experience that completes any winter time. Face planting in the fluffy white stuff to make snow angels, giggling through a snowball fight or sliding feet first on a toboggan; it’s guaranteed to bring a smile to everyone’s face. While you might not be ready to turn the kids into professional skiers, there's nothing like the wonder of that first frolic in the snow. Here are some places in and around Sydney that are great for families wanting a white Christmas in July, be it real or fake!

1. Snow Time in the Garden, Hunter Valley

In 2018, snow time in the garden is going to be massive! Experience an icy wonderland over three huge weeks, where families can chill out on their giant ice skating rink, slide down the mega ice toboggan and build a snowman or two in a man-made Snow Play Zone! With games, entertainment, warm beverages and hearty food, there is so much fun to be had for all ages. This year's festival runs from Saturday 30 June 2018 to Sunday 22 July 2018. . Visit their website.

2. Blue Mountains Yulefest

The Blue Mountains is the ultimate place to celebrate Christmas in July, and Yulefest will be there for three months of wintery fun. Whilst we can’t guarantee snow in the Blue Mountains, you might get lucky and be there to witness some against the stunning mountains backdrop. While cold winds blow and the occasional snow falls, experience warm 'Mountains' hospitality, log fires, Xmas fare, singalongs and perhaps even Santa. We recommend the Friday and Saturday night festive buffet dinners at the luxurious and family-friendly Fairmont Resort. Visit their website.

3. Go To See Some Real Snow

Winter is the perfect time to dust those skis off and have a super fun and adventurous family winter experience! One of our top picks is Corin Forest, the perfect first snow experience for kids, just 45-minutes from Canberra.
