The Best Hot Springs To Visit Near Sydney

Although beaches and waterfalls fall to the wayside during Winter, there's still a way you can have some serious aqua fun: by visiting some hot springs just a short drive from Sydney! Warm, beautiful, relaxing and totally Instagram-worthy, these are destinations worth putting on the Sunday-drive agenda.
1. Yarrangobilly Caves Thermal Pool
Found inside the Kosciuszko National Park, the thermal pool is fed by a natural spring, and can be accessed from the car park via a short, 700m walk. It's steep though, so keep it in mind if you are taking little ones. It's about 27 degrees all year long, measures about 20 metres long and 2.5 metres deep, and the main pool gently waterfalls into a shallower children's wading pool. Explore the caves, and enjoy a picnic in the nearby area. Drive: 5 hours, 20 minutes

2. Blue Mountains Sparadise
The Japanese Garden and Bathhouse's outdoor hot spring (as well as their indoor spa) is fed from the natural underground spring, and is infused with a herbal mix for a truly therapeutic steam, without diminishing the natural-ness of the experience. There are massages, treatments, a teahouse and even accommodation available, so overlook beautiful green mountains, breathe in crisp air and warm your body. Entry is $70 per person. Drive: 2 hours, 20 minutes
3. Moree Artesian Spa Baths
Head to the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre for soothing, mineral-rich, constantly flowing, naturally filtered water. They have a number of baths and springs for your enjoyment including a heated children's Hidroplay area, a 50m Olympic pool, a waterslide, fitness centre, wellness centre, and hot artesian pools. It's only $25 per family. Drive: 7 hours, 15 minutes
4. Lightning Ridge Bore Baths
The water you'll swim in at the Bore Baths comes from the Great Artesian Basin, and is about 2 million years old! Sitting between 40 and 50 degrees Celsius, this is known as one of, if not the top, best hot springs in New South Wales, and gives you that truly warm, steam-rising-from-the-pool's-surface experience. It's free entry, so families are encouraged to make use of one of our Earth's natural beauties. Drive: 8 hours, 40 minutes
5. Burren Junction Bore Baths
Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, head to these Bore Baths for a quiet, rural hot springs experience. They are heated to a constant 41.5 degrees Celcius, and are believed to relieve achy muscles. Camp at the free camping grounds nearby, take a cool poolside shower if you dare, and enjoy the other amenities at this beautiful, popular meeting spot for locals. Drive: 7 hours, 10 minutes
