There’s a ton of exciting and adrenaline-pumping experiences to be had at Darling Harbour these April School holidays. Take your children along to these amazing attractions for some serious thrills and spills! By their very nature, we recommend these activities for families with older children – see individual attractions for minimum age and height restrictions.

1. Go On A Virtual Adventure

How about an adventure through a range of exotic landscapes and weather conditions all from the comfort of your seat? 9D Action Cinemas will stimulate your senses like nothing else using 3D vision, surround sound, active motion seats and dramatic effects, including rain, fog, lightning, wind and snow. The realistic ride lasts for between 8 to 10 minutes, but you’ll be talking about the thrill for hours afterwards.

2. Grab The Controls Of A 737!

Welcome aboard for an unforgettable, thrilling flight experience as you take the controls of a commercial Boeing 737 airliner with Flight Experience Darling Harbour. It’s an immersive, hands-on flying adventure as you play Captain for the entire flight, from taxi to take-off and landing. Look out for special mid-week discount offers. Minimum age 10 years.

WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo is the place to be for guaranteed thrills with older children (10yrs+) at their WILD flight, a self-propelled  zip wiring experience where you can fly through the zoo’s aviary! Get a glimpse from above of kangaroos hopping on the ground, glide past parrots and other feathered friends and try to contain the screams as you fly over Rex, their 5m saltwater croc! Yikes!

4. Feed Some Sharks

Why not? Get up close and personal with the sharks at SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium. The glass bottom boat leaves at 11am, setting off to feed the sharks and other large fish that stalk the waters of the Great Barrier Reef Oceanarium. This is the stuff of shark-lovers dreams and everyone else’s nightmares! Book tickets, because this thrill sure is popular!

5. Lose Yourself in Laser

There’s nothing more adrenaline inducing than a game of laser tag at M9 Laser Skirmish. Get your hearts pumping with an exhilarating battle, laser against laser, as you hide amongst the indoor maze of camouflaged props. Even a little courage will go a long way when you embark on a mission to target your opponents and score points for every successful hit.

6. Try Your Hand At Escape Artistry

This one’s a real creepy thrill! Head to Escapism with older kids (13yrs+) for real life puzzle rooms. Get trapped in a room and try to find your way out in 50 minutes! Work in teams with no help from the outside world. Together you need to find hidden objects, solve riddles, crack clues and beat the clock to escape the room. It’s a challenge but great fun.
