Try Bennelong’s Cherry Jam Lamington And Support R U OK?

Saturday 21 July is National Lamington Day (yes it's a thing!) so the team at Bennelong Restaurant, are doing their bit with an old-school canteen lamington drive. Best of all, 100% of the proceeds going to suicide prevention organisation, R U OK? 

Starting at 12pm for lunch and 5:30pm for dinner, Gilmore’s famous cherry jam lamington will be available at The Restaurant, Cured and Cultured and, for this one day only, at Bennelong Bar (no bookings necessary at the Bar, just drop in).

You might remember Peter Gilmore’s challenging lamington from Masterchef a few years ago. His take on the classic sponge is an ode to Australian nostalgia, and looks like the most elegant ice cream cake you could imagine. It’s composed of a square of cherry jam coconut cream ice cream and sponge, coated in glossy chocolate ganache and surrounded by a halo of liquid nitrogen coconut milk parfait ‘dessicated coconut’, which dances and melts before your eyes. Right after you've taken a pic for your Instagram, of course.

At $28 it's the most expensive lamington you'll ever eat but we reckon today is a worthy time to try it!
