We Visited The Epic Parramatta Park!

A park so fantastic, it has its own website! I recently took my boys out to Parramatta Park. Our intention was to check out some of the historical sites there and go for a big walk/scooter for some exercise. We were pleasantly surprised to find a seriously awesome playground there- The Domain Creek Playground! It still has the new-park feel, receiving a recent $2 million upgrade mid 2015! To get to this one, enter via the Queens Road entrance.

Divided up into different areas, the playground has something for all ages; a flying fox, swings, water play, trampolines, shaded and unshaded sand pits, two slippery slides at different heights (the larger one is very cool and my 2.5yr old nailed it [just!]). The walkways and ramps connecting each section of the playground make it totally easy and accessible for prams and wheelchairs, with one of the flying foxes even being adapted to suit special needs children.

What I loved about the playground was that it was laid out really well. You didn’t feel like you were playing on top of another child, and there is plenty to do and plenty of space for everyone. The playground has a natural bush-feel to it, and the large open spaces make for worn-out kids by the end of the day.

Such a brilliant surprise and well worth the drive – we will be back! Whilst the Domain Creek playground is the best, why not check out the other playgrounds in Parramatta Park? We would if it weren’t for the rain! There’s the small Pavilion Flat playground near the Tudor Gatehouse, with a large range of equipment including a boat shaped climbing structure, climbing webs, rockers on springs, and a playhouse. There’s also the West Domain Playground with a heap of shade, and play equipment made mostly of wood. The pond adds to the gorgeous, natural setting you find yourself in at this playground.
